Youth can enlighten future by adopting Iqbal teachings: Speakers

Islamabad - Speakers at a seminar said that the youth of Pakistan can enlighten their future by adopting the teachings of national poet and philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal.  They expressed these view during a seminar “The Role of Ideology of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal in the Social Uplift of Pakistan” arranged by the National Council of Social Welfare in collaboration with Iqbal Academy Pakistan to mark the 140th Birthday of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal.  Dr Nadeem Shafiq Malik, Chairman National Council of Social Welfare chaired the seminar while Syed Gulzar Hasnain, Senior Joint Secretary Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination, Islamabad was the chief guest. Representatives of civil society, NGOs, students, other stakeholders and a large number of youth attended the seminar. Dr Nadeem, in his presidential address said that the teachings and ideology of Allama Iqbal still serve as a guiding philosophy for us. The youth of Pakistan can enlighten their future by adopting the teachings of the spiritual Father of Pakistan.

A litany of literary scholars has written of books and research papers to enlighten the new generations with the ideology and teachings of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Those nations who follow their intellectuals / leaders, maintain a unique identity. When everyone was promoting Indian Nationalism, Iqbal gave a new idea of separate homeland for Muslims of sub continent. Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal threw a new spirit of Muslim revivalism through his ideology / teachings and poetry. He awakened the sentiments of the Muslims of sub-continent through his poetry and united them under the leadership of Quadi-e-Azam. He gave the idea of a separate homeland for the Muslims of sub-continent. Iqbal also stressed on the role of Islam in creating unity and brotherhood among the people. He stated that Islam is the religion of humanity which gives equal opportunities to all people. His teachings lead a nation towards a welfare state and are universally acknowledged irrespective of nationhood. Iqbal also worked for the golden principles of ethics and morality. He wrote essays on Islamic culture and civilization.

The prominent scholars included Prof. Idris Azad, International Islamic University, Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Zafar, Head of Urdu Department AIOU, Islamabad and Muhammad Bukhsh Sandhi, D.G. Iqbal Academy Islamabad said in their lectures that the teachings of Iqbal established deep effects on the Pakistani society. He presented Islamic concepts with modernity and believed that Islam presents a way of life. In short; Iqbal gave solutions of modern issues through his teachings and ideology. There is no doubt that Iqbal is a man of exceptional standing and receives the kind of adoration denied to other historical figures.
