Poland keen to enhance trade ties with Pakistan

Ambassador of Poland to Pakistan Piotr A. Opalinski said his country enjoys very special ties with Pakistan which would be deepened further with the passage of time.  Polish companies have been working in promoting the energy sector of Pakistan and there is a vast prospect for expansion of trade between the two friendly countries, he said. He said that Poland is interested in agriculture and pharmaceutical and leather sectors of Pakistan.

He expressed their views while talking about the 100 years of Poland’s Independence. He said, Poland is a democracy, with a President as a head of State, whose current constitution dates from 1997.

“On 11 November 1918, the dreams of generations of Poles came true: after 123 years of serfdom, Russification and Germanisation, after great uprisings, free Poland was reinstated on the map of the world. This was mainly due to the perseverance and dedication of the active part of Polish society, who, during the period of servitude, passed down their allegiance to the language and national culture to new generations of young poles” he added.

Warsaw also takes interest in Pakistan’s socio-economic uplift and enhancing its defence capabilities, he said, adding that some Polish companies are engaged in helping Pakistan to develop the coal-mining industry. He appreciated the exporting high quality surgical and sports goods of Pakistan and said that the textiles, leather garments and high-quality Basmati rice are very popular in Poland.
