Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the government would work on a comprehensive strategy for prevention of floods. Every year floods cause loss of life and property and the situation needs efforts to ensure future losses are minimized. The Prime Minister handed out cheques to the flood affected in Wazirabad amounting to Rs. 25,000/- each and promised greater relief efforts.

Pakistan is facing brunt of climate change and there is a need for a national committee on floods that can provide future safeguards. The Prime Minister mentioned limited resources of the country and said that government is trying its best to deal with flood victims, IDP’s and their rehabilitation within these resources.
