ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has congratulated teenage education campaigner Malala Yousafzai on winning the Nobel Peace Prize, calling her pride of Pakistan.

“She is the pride of Pakistan. She has made her countrymen proud. Her achievement is unparalleled and unequalled. Girls and boys of the world should learn from her struggle and commitment,” he said in a statement. Malala Yousafzai and Indian child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi won the Nobel Peace Prize.  Malala Yousafzai who was also a favourite last year was in the running along with Pope Francis for defence of the poor, Edward Snowden, and a Japanese pacifist group.
