LAHORE: The Punjab government is yet to constitute a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe Model Town tragedy, officials said Friday.

A police spokesperson said that the names of the police officers would be finalized once the JIT is constituted by the competent authority.

Earlier, Punjab police department suggested the provincial government to constitute a new joint investigation team (JIT) to probe into the Model Town tragedy.

The investigation team will consist of officers from Intelligence Bureau (IB), Military Intelligence (MI), Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and the police department. The JIT will investigate the Model Town case lodged against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and 19 others.
