KASUR/NOORPUR THAL-The district police have beefed up security to avert any subversive activity during Ashura-e-Muharram and more than 3,000 policemen will be deployed across the district to guard 50 Alm, Zuljinnah processions and Majalis.

According to DPO Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, more than 3,000 police officials including one SSP, one SP, seven DSPs, 30 inspectors, 130 sub-inspectors, 190 assistant sub-inspectors, 208 head constables, 1,538 constables, 604 police volunteers and 440 civil defence officials will be deployed across the district to guard 29 processions and 21 Majalis. He informed that 132 CCTV cameras have been installed on the routes of Ashura processions to keep a close eye on suspicious elements, adding a central control room has also been established in DPO Office where from all the proceedings will be monitored through CCTV cameras. “Aerial surveillance of the processions will be carried out through drone cameras while the snipers will also be deployed atop the buildings along routes of the processions to respond any eventuality,” the DPO informed. He said wall-chalking, displaying arms, aerial firing and distributing hate material is completely banned, warning the violators will be dealt with an iron hand. “To respond any emergency, Elite Police personnel will conduct march along the processions while adjoining roads will be closed temporarily,” said the DPO.

He appealed to the public to keep a vigil on suspects and call on 15 or send message on 0305-4713321 if they find any suspicious bag or vehicle around them, assuring their identity will be kept secret.

He also appealed to Ulema of all schools of thoughts, reconciliation committee members, traders and journalists to assist the police in maintaining peace across the district. Mr Rizvi also expressed his optimism, saying with the public assistance, Muharram would be elapsed peacefully.

TMA SETS ALL FOR ASHURA: The tehsil municipal administration has made all necessary arrangements to keep the public safe from any untoward incident on Ashura.

AC Ch Ali Asif Buttar stated while inspecting routes of Ashura processions here the other day.

According to official sources, the AC visited Khaima-e-Sadaat, Mohallah Syedanwala, Mohallah Sheikhanwala and inspected routes of Ashura processions. On the occasion, he directed the officials concerned to tighten security of Majalis and imambargahs.
