SHIKARPUR - Addressing a press conference here at Shikarpur House on Monday evening Sindh Senior Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that Pakistan People’s Party was a national political party working to address people’s grievances at grass roots level.

He added that this attribute of the party had struck a chord with the people, who believed that the party was following in the footsteps of ZAB and BB for improving their socio-economic condition as well as for ensuring stability of democratic system in the country.

Replying to a question, Khuhro said that the PTI Chief Imran Khan was standing in a blind street after adopting non-democratic tactics of agitation on roads instead of using the parliament as a platform for raising his voice.

“On the other hand, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is also confused over the Panama leaks issue and due to this he is also feeling himself cornered just like Imran Khan,” the senior minister said, and added, “While the PPP leadership wants to get the Panama leaks issue resolved in the interests of the constitution as well as democratic values.”

“However, the PPP leadership would not accept any political action, taken by any political entity, which causes damage to the democratic values and violate the constitutional provisions because PPP believed in the constitution,” he added.

To another question about the fate of MQM chief, the minister said that his party leadership had condemned the anti-Pakistan statements uttered by Altaf Hussain and such resolution was passed against him in Sindh Assembly session.

“However, he cannot be called a traitor before he is declared as such by the court of law,” he said categorically.

He, however, admitted that due to anti Pakistan statements by Altaf Hussain, his party had distributed into three parts which was a great loss to MQM.

To another question, Khuhro said that according to the constitution every Chief of Army Staff [COAS] was fully responsible to implement all the provisions of the constitution relating to him in order to run the defence affairs, including the National Action Plan [NAP] in the interests of the country.

“Now when General Raheel Sharif has decided not to get any extension so there is no question to demand for extension in his term at office because this is the question of morality,” he opined.

To another question about the population censes, the senior minister said that the Nawaz Sharif government did not seem serious to hold the censes in the country and due to this the censes had been postponed thrice.

“When the Sindh government ordered to conduct house listing process, it was delayed due to interference and objections by the federal government as well as opposition parties,” he alleged.

Later, on the occasion, he along with Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, the speaker Sindh Assembly, PPP central leader Dr Younis Hyder Soomro, Meer Babal Khan Bhayo, the former PPP district president Shikarpur and other PPP leaders addressed the party workers and city notables meeting held at Shikarpur House and called upon the PPP workers and city notables to support the PPP candidate Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh in by-election for PS-11 Shikarpur to be held on 20th October.
