Rawalpindi - Exhibition of commemorative stamps was held here at General Post Office (GPO) yesterday in connection with World Post Day.

On the occasion, President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Raja Amir Iqbal was the chief guest while Chief Postmaster Rawalpindi GPO Ihsan Ullah Marwat and other officers of GPO were also present.

The chief guest and chief postmaster jointly hoisted the Universal Postal Union (UPU) flag. Officers/officials of Pakistan Post, philatelists, students and teachers of schools also attended the ceremony.

The message of director general Universal Postal Union was read out on the occasion, in which it’s told, “Our customers trust us and we are also the only trusted partner to provide locally and globally essential services to the public. Customers expectations, needs and requirements are changing and the post improve as well to meet the new demands of the people.”

Chief Postmaster Rawalpindi GPO Ihsan Ullah Marwat said, “We are determined to remain the trusted, reliable and affordable communication service provider for institutions, businesses and citizens. Pakistan Post has to change the mode of services according to the modern technologies and to the expectations and needs of the customers, and in this regard all possible efforts are in progress to enhance the quality of services.”

President RCCI Raja Amir Iqbal expressed his satisfaction over the postal services and said that the importance of the Pakistan Post cannot be ignored and this department is excellently providing the services to its customers.

On the occasion, the philatelists and students show keen interest in the exhibition of commemorative stamps. The students also visited different counters of the GPO. A senior officer briefed them about the services of savings, express post centre, pension, delivery and philatelic bureau.
