LAHORE: The city district government has set up control room at DCO Office for monitoring processions being taken out on Muharram 9, 10 in different parts of the city. The officials of 10 departments have been deputed at the Control Room.

District Coordination Officer Capt (R) Muhammad Usman said that the CDG has installed 310 CCTV cameras in the Walled City, Thokar Niaz Baig, Shadman, Islampura and Model Town. As many as 400 high resolution cameras have been installed on routes under Safe City Project.

“Bomb Disposal Squad will clear the route of processions. CDG has set up two hospitals, one at Al-Imran Building in the Walled City and second at Central Model School near Karbala Gamay Shah for providing first aid to the injured mourners,” DCO said.


Police response units, and Dolphin and Mujahid Squads yesterday jointly held a flag march in different areas in the city. SP Mujahid Syed Karrar Hussain supervised the march which started from Police Lines Qilla Gujjar Singh and culminated at the same place after passing through railway station, Ghari Shahu, Mughalpura, The Mall, District Courts, and Bhatti Gate.

Dozens of police vehicles and motorcycle squads participated in the flag march.–Staff Reporter

 A police spokesperson said the flag march was part of the police operations to create a sense of security among citizens. Over 300 policemen took part in the march, the spokesman said.
