Karbala like spirit needed to ward off crises: Iqbal

SIALKOT-Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ch Ehsan Iqbal emphasised yesterday that the nation must draw inspiration from the great sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) in the fight against tyranny, dictatorship and terrorism.
At Karbala, the family of Holy Prophet (SAWW) and His grandson offered supreme sacrifice to uphold the golden principles of Islam against the undemocratic and dictatorial powers.
Federal Minister Ch Ehsan Iqbal stated while addressing the participants of an interfaith harmony promotion conference held here at Narowal.
MNA Mian Rasheed Ahmed, MPAs - Khawaja Waseem Butt, Rana Manan Khan, PML-N Narowal district President Tariq Malik Awan and Narowal DCO Rafaqat Ali Niswana were also present on the occasion.
The federal minister said that the tragedy of Karbala is remembered as an historical event which set lasting example of sacrifice for upholding truth and principles. “The Jihad fought by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) along with his companions is a glaring example of courage, patience, perseverance and determination,” he pointed out.
Ch Ehsan Iqbal said that Ashura gives the message to the Muslim not to hesitate from rendering any sacrifice for upholding the principles of truthfulness and Islamic values.
He said that today Muslim Ummah is passing through a critical juncture and is faced with the challenges of extremism and terrorism. He stressed that today Ummah needs to revive the spirit of Karbala, adding that with the spirit of sacrifice and unflinching determination, the Muslims can overcome all difficulties. The federal minister narrated that the best way to pay tributes to the martyrs of Karbala is to refresh the pledge to work and devote oneself for the development and strength of the country.
Ch Ehsan Iqbal underlined that the day is a reminder of how to stand up for the right with dauntless courage for freedom and justice.
The Federal Minister for Planning and Development urged the clerics to avoid furious speeches and preach the worshipers with patience and tolerance and promote sectarian harmony, religious brotherhood and peace.
He sought active cooperation of the Ulema belonging to all sects to come forward and play their pivotal role in forging religious and sectarian harmony, unity, peace, faith and brotherhood during the month of Muharram.
He urged the Ulema to shun their sectarian differences in larger national interest and glory of Islam.
