KHYBER AGENCY -  The security forces officials claimed to have killed seven militants and injuring several others during airstrikes carried out by the jet fighters as part of Khyber 3 military action in parts of Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency.

Official sources confirmed Monday that the bombardment over militants’ sanctuaries took place in Kando, Gharibai and Kharaiba area of Koki Khel tribe in Tirah Valley.

Sources revealed that the jet fighters pounded strongholds of suspected militants in the remote area and inflicted heavy loss on them. Three hideouts of the militants were also destroyed in the air offence, the added.

Sources said all the militants belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

After purge operation launched by the troops in the tribal belt, most of militants including volunteers of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Bara base defunct Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) and other outfit organisations fled lower Bara areas and took refuge in Tirah Valley.

Most terrorist-infested regions of Khyber Agency – including the strategic Tirah Valley – were cleansed in two previous operations, codenamed Khyber-I & II.

In the month of August, the forces have launched a full-fledged cleanup operation under Khyber 3 in the area to wipe out militancy of the area.
