OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - PML-N leader and MNA Ayaz Amir on Saturday rejected sexual assault allegations made against him by a girl hailing from Chakwal district and said that he would quit the National Assembly seat if the charges are proved against him. Talking to reporters here at the Lahore Press Club, he said his political rivals were trying to damage his reputation by propagating that he had sexually assaulted the girl. The allegation is totally unfounded and baseless. The victim has no medical evidence or witness to support her claim, he said. He said that according to the girl, Tabassum Farooq, the incident took place on May 22 in Chakwal at his residence but in fact he was present in Lahore on that day. He said that he stayed at a local hotel on May 22 and the record of the hotel could be verified. He said that the police are investigating the case and therefore, no one should try to influence or intervene into the police investigations. He also said that the drama being staged by his opponents would end very soon. He also said tat a number of politicians are preparing to grab the NA-60 seat but he was not going to resign as per their desire and until the charges are proved against him. He said that the lawyers of the complainant belonged to PML-Q and the poor girl is playing in the hands of his opponents who wanted to damage his political reputation.
