DHQ MS, others jailed

RAWALPINDI - Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Malik Nazeer Ahmed Saturday while announcing a verdict in fake doctors recruitment case in District Headquarters Hospital awarded five to three years sentence to the accused doctors including Medical Superintendent Dr Khalid Iqbal Malik. The judge also released five other accused due to lack of evidences. Special Judge Anti Corruption took up fake doctors recruitment case and laid down its verdict in which the judge awarded Dr Khalid five year punishment. Similarly, DHQ Accounts Officer Asif Ayud has been given four year sentence while fake lady doctor Rifat Shaheen has been awarded three year punishment by the court in fake doctors recruitment case. However, the judge ordered release of five other accused in the case including Director Finance Muhammad Rasheed, DMS Dr Bilal, lady doctor Romana Masood, lady doctors Maryam Waqar and Dr Mubeen Malik owing to lack of evidences. It is pertinent to mention here that media unearthed the appointments of three fake doctors and a lady doctor in DHQ in 2009 after which Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif took serious note on media reports and constituted a committee to probe the matter. In the lights of committees findings, cases have been registered against the then MS DHQ Dr Khalid Iqbal Malik, four fake doctors, head clerk and others.
