SADIQABAD

The impoverished people of Sadiqabad have been deprived of healthcare facilities and medicines at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, it is learnt.

The THQ Hospital faces shortage of medicines even in cases of emergency while the official ambulance is being misused as the transportation facility remains unavailable for the deserving persons.

Sources said that the ambulance was used by the doctors and other hospital staff thereby adding to the patients and their families’ woes. The citizens demanded that the officials concerned should ensure the provision of healthcare facilities at the hospital instead of making it a centre where patients are referred to other hospitals for treatment. The citizens included Abdullah, Mehmood, Waqas, Mujahid, Abdul Rahuf, Irfan, Shabbir, Aslam, Zubair, Talib and Ahmad Hassan.

They said that whenever patients in critical condition were brought at the THQ Hospital, the doctors refer them to Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan. They added that various vacancies of specialist doctors were lying vacant. They alleged that most of the hospital doctors were running their private hospitals or clinics and they refer more often than not the patients visiting the THQ Hospital to their private health facilities.  The citizens demanded that the Punjab chief minister should take a stern action against the situation and should ensure provision of medicines and other facilities at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital of Sadiqabad besides ensuring availability of ambulance for patients only.
