SC decides to indict Amir Liaquat in contempt of court case

Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday has decided to indict PTI leader Amir Liaquat in contempt of court case on 27th of this month.

The top court took up the case against the PTI MNA on the petition filed by anchorperson Shahzeb Khanzada, Independent Media Corporation (Pvt) Ltd, Mir Ibrahim Rahman and Najam Aziz Sethi accusing Amir Liaquat of defamatory campaigns and unethical manner of conducting television shows.

The court today rejected Amir Liaquat 's unconditional apology plea. During the hearing of the case, television clips of the Amir Liaquat programmes were also played.

"This is not the way, first insult the judiciary then ask for forgiveness, are we here to get insulted?", CJP remarked.

The top judge further inquired if Amir Liaquat could remain an MNA after indictment, to which the latter's lawyer responded in negative.
