LAHORE - Chief of PML-Z, Ejaz ul Haq has announced to challenge the clause of 18th Amendment in Supreme Court that exempt political parties to hold intra-party polls. He expressed these views while addressing a news conference at a local hotel on Sunday. Ejaz while stressing the need for unification of all factions of Muslim League said that he would call on PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif for the purpose. Rejecting renaming of NWFP as Khyber-Pukhto-onkhawa, he said that it was a gross violation of the rights of people of Hazara division. He said all those politicians including the prime minister who thumped the desks on the removal of Zia-ul-Haqs name from the Constitution had practically took part in the referendum of 1984. He said Islamic clauses inserted in the Constitution during the era of his father would remain part of the constitution and it was strange that these politicians could not take even a minor step to touch these clauses. He said after the introduction of 58(2)b in 1985, it was written in the Constitution that Zia-ul-Haq hold the office of the president for the next five years and his term was to be completed in 1990. He said his fathers name had to be automatically eliminated from the book with the completion of his term but the way the incumbent government was claiming to have removed the name of former President from the constitution was merely a political stunt to gain cheap publicity. Ejaz said the rulers were claiming that they have blocked the way of martial law forever but they did not dare to implement Article 6 once, which according to him was the only way to block the way of any undemocratic move. He said it was not his demand to try Musharraf under Article 6 but he invited the rulers to muster up the courage and try any dictator under the said Article. PML-Z Chief said the Article 6 should also be implemented on PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was not only a civilian martial law administrator but also a blue-eyed of Gen Ayub Khan, as Bhutto was a covering candidate for Ayub while the General Ayub was contesting Presidential elections against Fatima Jinnah. Ejaz said rulers were talking about reopening of Zulfikar Ali Bhuttos murder case, if they wanted to reopen it, the murder cases of Ahmed Khan Kasuri, Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi and Khawaja Mohammed Rafique should also be reopened. He said situation in Pakistan was very much similar to Kyrgyzstan, while the rulers were taking up non-issues instead of addressing the real issues of the masses. Responding to a query, he said the rights of people of Hazara division had not been respected in renaming the province as 'Khyber Pukhtoonkhawa and the new name of NWFP had sown the seed of ethnicity. He said if the rightful demands of the people of Hazara division would not be accepted, then there were chances this could turn into a massive movement for a separate province, which would also add to the demands of Saraeki and Urdu Speaking provinces in Pakistan. Replying to another question, Ejaz said in 2004 he made efforts for the unification of PML factions and he still believes that these factions could be unified and to achieve this purpose he would also call on PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif, while he was also ready to meet Chaudhry brothers provided they stopped serving as a B-team of PPP. Responding to yet another query over the issue of Composite Dialogue with India, he said there should be no Composite Dialogue with India and government of Pakistan should not compromise over two major issues of Kashmir and water.
