COAS witnesses army exercises

Chief of the Army Staff Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani on Monday visited various areas where military exercises were taking place here in Khanewal. COAS visited Khanewal on Monday in connection with Exercise Azm-e- Nau 3. According to military officials, Commander Southern Command Lt General Khalid Shamim Wyne and Corp Commander Bahawalpur Lt General Naeem Khalid Lodhi accompanied the COAS during his brief stay. COAS also visited the Logistic Base in Khanewal. Sources say that COAS highly acclaimed the standard of the military exercises. He appreciated the professional expertise and proficiencies of army personnel and army officers stressing our troops are capable of defending every inch of the country tooth and nail. He further added that the military exercises would excel operational and professional skills of the armed forces. The country's largest and comprehensive military exercises "Azm-e-Nau-3" is gaining momentum with each day passing. The troops by demonstrating Dispersal Techniques' are advancing towards Army in battle-like' situation. According to spokesperson of Pakistan Army, these exercises would continue till May 15 and will be participated by the soldiers numbering more than 20,000 belonging to all arms and services. The ongoing exercise is the culmination of yearlong training process in light of the directives of Chief of Army Staff Ashfaq Parvez Kayani who had declared 2009-10 as Year of Training'. Other supporting units including Tanks, Infantry, Artillery Guns, Anti-Aircraft, Engineers, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Signals and others are also actively taking part in the exercises. The exercises are part of war games and all available surveillance and reconnaissance assets being practiced and utilized in the exercise to validate their efficacy.
