LAHORE – Environment Protection Department (EPD) Punjab in coordination with Transport Department and Traffic Police organised an awareness walk regarding increasing smoke and noise pollution due to two stroke motor cycle and auto rickshaws from Liberty roundabout to Hafeez Centre here on Thursday.

Caretaker Provincial Minister for Environment Punjab Ejaz Arif lead the walk while Secretary Environment Sher Alam Mahsud, DG Environment Farooq Hameed Sheikh, Director EIA Naseemur Rehman Shah, and officials of Environment, Transport, and Traffic police participated in the walk.

Awami Rickshaw Union and its office bearers and members including dozens of rickshaw drivers also participated in the walk.

The walk participants were holding banners and placards containing awareness messages regarding increasing causes of noise and smoke pollution. The walk participants also distributed pamphlets among the masses and asked them to prefer four stroke rickshaw instead of two stroke rickshaws.
