ARL, Hyundai ink MoU for upgradation project


ISLAMABAD - Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) and Hyundai Engineering Co Ltd, Korea Thursday entered into an agreement for ARL upgradation project comprising of installation of Isomerization Unit (to enhance production of Premium Motor Gasoline), Preflash Unit (to enhance refining capacity), Diesel Hydrodesulphurization (DHDS) Unit (to reduce sulphur contents in High Speed Diesel) and Expansion of existing Captive Power Plant.
An ARL press release said that the total value of these projects stand at $251 million approximately.
The agreement to this effect was signed at a simple but impressive ceremony at ARL, Morgah, Rawalpindi on April 11, 2013. M. Adil Khattak, CEO signed the agreement for ARL, while Ms. Won Ock Kim, Project Director signed the agreement on behalf of Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd.
Speaking on the occasion, Adil Khattak said that today is a historic day for ARL. This project would, Inshallah, prove to be of immense value not only for ARL but also for the country. He appreciated the efforts of both ARL and Hyundai project management teams for their hard work in concluding these agreements and hoped that refinery upgradation project shall be completed within the agreed time frame.
He also thanked the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources, Government of Pakistan for enabling the local refineries to undertake up-gradation/ expansion projects in Pakistan.
