MULTAN/MUZAFFARGARH - Former MNA Jamshed Dasti was released from Central Jail Multan in compliance of a verdict of Lahore High Court Multan Bench here on Thursday. Mr Dasti was convicted in a fake degree case by a District and Sessions court in Muzaffargarh, but a division bench of LHC Multan Bench comprising Mr Justice Ijaz Ahmad and Mr Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi nullified the three-year imprisonment sentence and issued order for his release. The lawyer of Jamshed Dasti pleaded that there was serious legal error in the verdict of District and Sessions court as he was sentenced for contesting election on fake degree while his degree could not be proved fake.

The lawyers of Jamshed Dasti have also filed an appeal with the Election Tribunal against rejection of his nomination papers and the appeal is approved for hearing. The hearing is fixed for April 15th. Jamshed Dasti is candidate for MNA seats from national assembly constituencies NA-177 and 178.

Meanwhile, Jamshed Dasti left for Muzaffargarh while leading a rally and took a round of his town. His supporters chanted slogans in his favour and danced to drum beat. Talking to the journalists on this occasion, Dasti said that his release was triumph of truth.
