Electioneering gains vigour as polls near

SADIQABAD - Electoral campaigns by the PML-N, PPP and PTI gain momentum here as the general elections are approaching fast and the nomination papers of all the candidates nominated by the political parties or independent ones have been accepted by the returning officer concerned.
During a meeting with PML-N ticket-holders and party activists in Sadiqabad, PML-N district president Mian Khalid Shaheen conveyed the message of the party leadership to them. On the occasion, the local leaders included Azhar Laghari, M Shafiq and Hafiz Abdul Razzaq. He said that the party’s central and provincial parliamentary boards’ consultation had completed thus an announcement regarding the candidates’ nomination was expected in a day or two.
He urged the participants to abide by the party discipline and work for the success of the ticket-holders. He said that no one would be allowed to violate party discipline. He said that all the party leaders and activists who sacrificed for the party were an asset.
Separately talking to the media, PML-N Youth Wing tehsil office-bearers of Sadiqabad claimed that their party would get landslide victories across the country and Nawaz Sharif would become the prime minister of Pakistan. They were of the view that their party made Pakistan and would also save her. They said that their party leadership was making efforts for the betterment of the people of Pakistan.
The youth wing office-bearers included Ashfaq, Faisal, Imran Sabir, Kashif, Saeed, Zulfiqar, Ehsanul Haq, Mohsin, Sohail, Rana Saeed, Irfan, Muazzam, Sheraz, Amjad, Yasir and Waqas.
On the other side, PPP candidate for PA-297 Ibrahim Khalil organised a luncheon in the honour of NA-197 candidate Murtaza Mehmood. Both the candidates on the occasion decided to start a joint candidacy from the Punjab Assembly constituency. They decided to inaugurate the electoral campaign by opening an office in Sanjarpur while in Chowk Sabzal Chowk areas, party office will also be set up.
On the occasion, the NA candidate said that he along with the PA candidate would visit all the union councils jointly. He expressed the hope that his party would make a clean sweep in the forthcoming general elections.
Likewise, the PPP Youth Wing office-bearers met with NA-197 candidate’s coordinator Mukhtar Ahmad at Model Town Secretariat. The officeholders said that the candidate’s popularity had increased after his announcement to work for the party’s strengthening along with Bilawal Bhutto Zardar, the PPP chairman.
Talking to the media, the People’s Youth Organisation district and tehsil presidents denied any factions in the People’s Party. Khawar and Imam Baksh, the PYO men, said that all the party organisations were united under the leadership of Javed Akbar, the district president, in district Rahim Yar Khan. They expressed the hope their party would win the general elections across the country. They affirmed that the last PPP-led government provided relief for the people in the five-year tenure. On the basis of performance, they said, their party would win the elections again.
Similarly, the PPP’s PA-296 candidate met with various delegations at the party’s Model Town secretariat. Tariq Mehmood expressed the hope that May 11 would be a memorable day for his party. He mentioned his “services” he made during the last five years and pledged to continue to serve the people if they elected him in the forthcoming elections again.
As far as the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf’s activities are concerned in the district, its candidate for PA-297 Shafiq Haider Leghar told the media that his party was determined to bring real change in the country. He said that the people of the constituency were facing a lot of problems and they were victims of deprivation and backwardness. He said that the former rulers did nothing for betterment of the local people therefore they had decided to bring a change in the country under the leadership of Imran Khan.
