KARACHI (PR) - The reopening of the Romanian Honorary Consulate in Karachi will generate important contributions towards fulfilling Pakistan and Romania’s economic missions.

Addressing a flag-hoisting ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Karachi, and appointment of Tariq Saud as Honorary Consul of Romania, Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan Emilian Ion said the re-opening of the Romanian Honorary Consulate in Karachi represents an important milestone of his tenure.

He said the Karachi honorary consulate reopening was a follow-up to the setting up of the Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRBC) Karachi in February 2011. He added the PRBC is doing admirably in its objective of a bridge between the business communities of both countries and promote bilateral relations.

Mr Emilian Ion said Romania and Pakistan had developed friendly and close relations in the economic and cultural fields. He added that more needs to be done to set more ambitious targets and enhance trade volume. He welcomed Mr Tariq Saud as the Romanian Honorary Consul and hoped his efforts will contribute significantly to Pakistan-Romania ties.

Saud in his welcome address thanked the Romanian Ambassador and said Pakistan and Romania enjoyed warm relations going back many decades. He said there was great potential for improvement of commercial and economic relations and he would strive to avail these opportunities.
