MAILSI - A sudden fire in 132/11KV Mepco grid station plunged the entire Mailsi Tehsil into darkness.

As per detail, the fire erupted in the Mailsi grid station due to short-circuit plunged the entire Tehsil into darkness as power supply to 11 feeders including City-I, City-II, Saifan Alampur, Sardarpur, factory Area, Niazpur, Shaker Ganj, Jala Jeem, Sargana and Irshad Khan feeders was disrupted. The TMA fire-fighters put out the fire after hectic struggle. However, there was no casualty in the incident. The losses is estimated to be more than Rs15 million. However, luckily three main transformers, having a cost of Rs60 million each, remained safe. The fire completely destroyed the panel room and other machinery.

According to Mepco Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Akram Javed, strenuous efforts are being made to restore power supply in 24 hours. He said that intermittent power supply had already been restored to some of the effected feeder from adjacent grid station like Kahror Pakka and others.
