QUETTA - Caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has appealed political parties to cooperate with government to ensure fair, transparent and timely conduction of general polls in the country.

He said stringent arrangements have been made for holding upcoming general elections in a peaceful environment.

Prime minister during visit of his second day in Quetta attended a high level meeting on law and order at Governor’s House on Thursday where he was briefed about law and order situation by the provincial authorities concerned in connection with upcoming polls.

Prime minister was informed that approximately 100,000 bogus votes had been eradicated from the new voters’ list and provision of tight security at sensitive polling stations was the top priority of the provincial government.

Prime Minister Khosa expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements, however emphasised that the candidates and voters should be given foolproof security and all available resources should be utilised.

Prime minister on Thursday met with the family of slain DSP Amir Dasti who was killed in Quetta few days back. Delegations of PML-N and Balochistan Bar Association also called on the premier.

PML-N delegation was headed by PML-N leader Nawab Sanaullah Zehri and he assured the Prime Minister that PML-N would extend all possible cooperation to government for holding fair and free elections.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Khosa said the decision of taking part in elections by the all political parties in Balochistan was a positive decision. He said government was utilising all resources for conducting transparent elections and political parties should also play their due role in this connection. PM also announced Rs 0.5m for the children of slain DSP Amir Dasti, besides bearing their all educational expenses by the govt.
