KMC finalises City’s 2030 master plan

KARACHI - The Administrator of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that the master plan for Karachi by 2030 has been finalised and every type of planning, implementation of development projects and allotment will be done so that the City requirements could be fulfilled by 2030 and infrastructure could also be improved well.
He said this while addressing a reception which was given in honour of the participants of 98th National Management Course Lahore.
Administrator Karachi on this occasion welcomed the participants of National Management Course in Karachi and informed them about the completed development projects and upcoming planning for Karachi.
He said the development of any country depends on the improvement of its basic infrastructure and the services being provided to citizens. Karachi was included in seven big cities of the world and has much geographical importance in the region.
The master plan of 2030 has been made effectively so that city could gain a comprehensive master plan.
The administrator said the utility services and development activities in all big cities of the world were according to master plan and basic information was available about the city on the basis of which plans for future were prepared. It’s the time now to build the infrastructure of Karachi on modern lines and carryout development works and future planning comprehensively and only this could produce real progress.
He said the Karachi was a metropolitan city and its requirements were different as compared with other cities therefore all requirements in future planning of Karachi were being considered so that development projects could be proved sustainable and citizens could be benefited for a long time.
Zaidi said the network of modern style roads and corridors in the city were laid to make transport system of Karachi unique and attractive. Several flyovers, bridges and underpasses on important roads and intersections were built to maintain traffic flow and more than 100 pedestrian bridges were also installed for citizens whereas 75 CNG buses were brought on roads and the project of K-III under Greater Karachi Package was completed. Above one million trees were planted on both sides of the roads and corridors and along with the construction of roads in industrial areas the drainage system was mended. Medical clinics and hospitals were built for providing citizen with better medical treatment whereas education sector was also modernised. Along with a good number of other small parks Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim and Benazir Bhutto Park were built in Karachi so that citizens could be provided with better recreational facilities.
The construction of four flyovers on Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Jinnah Terminal Flyover and other projects were also underway speedily. All those measures were aiming at building Karachi on modern lines.
On this occasion, the administrator presented a shield to the leader of delegation whereas a shield from the participants of National Management Course was also presented to Administrator Karachi.
