Mepco office pelted with stones

VEHARI -Against prolonged power outages, a demonstration was held by the Pakistan Kisan Ittehad and the protesters pelted the Mepco office with stones.
They blocked city entrance and exit roads as a protest against 22-hour loadshedding in the areas.
They said that the farming industry was at a stake due to the energy crisis. Meanwhile, they staged a sit-in in front of the DCO Office.
They also tried to stop a Karachi-bound train but failed due to the police action.
To control the mob, the police had to resort to baton charge leaving a number of the protesters wounded. On the occasion, PKI leader Iftikhar Chaudhry said, “Our demands have not been accepted by the government. Fuel adjustment price must be ensured in line with the Islamabad High Court order.”
