LAHORE - TheNation Editor-in-Chief Majid Nizami has stressed the need for electing patriotic people in the forthcoming general elections.

“Only patriotic people can steer the country out of crisis,” he said while addressing the participants of a special sitting on “Elections and the Dangers Country is Facing” at Aiwan-i-Karkunan-i-Tehrik-i-Pakistan on Thursday.

NPT and Pakistan Movement Workers Trust jointly organised the sitting.

General (r) Hameed Gul, NPT Vice Chairman Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad, former foreign secretary Akram Zaki, Farooq Altaf, Ahmad Awais Advocate, Shahid Rashid were among the speakers.

“We should be prepared to thwart the conspiracies of our enemies who want to destabilise the nuclear state,” Nizami stressed. He came down hard on military dictators for inflicting serious damage on the country.

TheNation Editor-in-Chief stressed the need for following the ideology of Pakistan and talked about the role of NPT in disseminating the Two-Nation Theory to the youth.

“The trust has imparted the Two-Nation Theory to 1.3 million students so far. I don’t understand as to why so-called scholars find it hard to understand,” he added.

The other speakers highlighted the power of vote and urged the people to exercise their right to vote to strengthen democracy.
