KARACHI  – Sindh Caretaker Information Minister Noorul Huda Shah strongly dispelled the impression, created by some sections that the polls scheduled for May 11 may be delayed or postponed.
Talking to a delegation of journalists in her office here Thursday, she said the interim setup is committed to hand-over power to the elected representatives of the masses after the forthcoming elections.
“If anybody has any doubt about it he or she should rectify it as elections will not be suspended for a single day,” she said. Shah reiterated that holding peaceful and transparent elections is the top priority of the caretaker government.
The minister said that all possible and effective measures are being taken to hold elections with absolute transparency and in most peaceful manner.
For the purpose, she said services of the law enforcement personnel besides volunteers and retired police personnel have been hired so that the voters may cast their votes without any fear.
She said power is a trust of elected representatives and caretaker government will hand it over to them after the elections.
She said the role of media in the forthcoming elections was extremely crucial and it should be played in a most objective and impartial manner.
She said that election cells were being established in all districts, divisional headquarters so as to ensure timely information to the journalists about the results and election process.
Sindh Director for Press Information, Mohammad Yousuf Kaborro was also present on the occasion and he too assured journalists about all possible assistance that could facilitate coverage of the polls.
