MULTAN - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice chairman Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that entire farming community of the country is agitating against the PPPP and its government’s power policy as the former regime failed to fulfil its promise of introducing flat rate for tube-wells.

Addressing the participants of a public meeting held here at Mauza Rangeelpur on Thursday, he added that the farmers did not want to vote for the PPPP candidates because of their party’s anti-farmer policies. He said that the PTI had solutions to all problems being faced by the country. He stressed upon the masses to lay foundation of new Pakistan by giving their vote to the PTI candidates.

WHEAT PROCUREMENT FROM 20TH: DCO Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah disclosed on Thursday that the wheat procurement operation would be started in district from April 20 and 2.32 lac tonnes of wheat would be purchased this year.

Addressing a meeting held to review arrangements for wheat procurement operation, he said that the procurement target set for current year was 12 per cent bigger than the last year. He added that 2.2 million gunny bags were arranged for the farmers while 16 procurement centres were set up in the district. He directed the concerned officials to ensure distribution of jute bags on merit and reject all pressures.

He declared that the wheat would be purchased at the rate of Rs1200 per 40 kg and the farmers would be paid his amount within 24 hours. He warned that no complaint regarding less weighing would be tolerated.

He directed the Assistant Commissioner to inspect weighing equipment on daily basis. He asked the food officials to submit procurement report on daily basis. He also ordered the market committee authorities to install tents at the procurement centres and ensure availability of chairs, tables and drinking water for the farmers.
