FAISALABAD - A plan should be worked out to utilise Wapda Hospital for general public by awarding it the status of a teaching hospital and affiliate it with a medical college.

Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan stated this during his visit to Wapda Hospital here the other day. The CEO discussed various issues with Senior Doctors and also addressed the hospital staff.

He stressed that affiliation with medical college would help increase the number of specialist doctors in the hospital who could also educate and supervise the medical students. This will be an important social service towards the betterment of the society.

He asked the hospital MS Dr Shamim Niaz to start second shift in the hospital. He also ordered the constitution of a committee to set up a blood donor society in the hospital. He said that a special campaign would be launched in the Fesco region to convince its officers and officials to donate blood voluntarily.

Earlier, Deputy MS Dr Shoaib and senior medical officer Dr Misbah Athar informed that the Wapda hospital and 2 dispensaries one each in Jhang and Sargodha circles were providing best medical services to thousands of Fesco employees and their families. They said that at least 500 patients visit the hospital OPD on daily basis. They said that approximately 100 operations were being conducted in the hospital every month.

Later, the Fesco CEO visited various departments of hospital and enquired from the indoor patients about the facilities being provided to them.

Chief Commercial Officer Khurshid Alam, DG Human Resources Muhammad Naeemullah, Manager HRM Muhammad Ali and Deputy Manager Public Relations Tahir Sheikh were also present on the occasion.
