Another lawyer shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI - Three people including the assistant director of Federal Ombudsman Department were gunned down in separate incidents here on Friday.
Ghulam Haider advocate was shot dead at Jahangir Road in Jamshaid Quarter police precincts.
Police said the victim was going home in his car (ANW-218) from his office when unknown motorcyclists targeted him near Marton Courter Shah-e-Najaf Imambargah. The assailants managed to flee while victim died on the spot. Police suspected the incident was occurred on sectarian grounds. Later, the body was handed over to the family after autopsy.
Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen condemned the incident and demanded immediate action against the sectarian killings. MWM said Shia professionals including doctors and lawyers had been killed in routine but the authorities were silent.
On the other side, gunmen shot dead Feroz Ahmed in Nazimabad police precincts. Police said Ahmed was going home when gunmen targeted him. He was affiliated with defunct Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan renamed as Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat.
In Gulbahar police precincts, Hamaish, 25, was wounded while Ghulam Hussain was killed on late Thursday night. Police said Hussain died on the spot while Hamaish succumbed to injuries during treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital here on Friday. Police said Hamaish was the resident of the same area.
Meanwhile, law enforcers claimed to have arrested over 100 suspects during targeted operation here in the City. Police claimed to have carried out 98 raids in various areas of the City and conducted some four encounters with the criminals. During the operation and raids, police claimed to have arrested some 90 suspects, including a murderer, two terrorists and others.
On the other side, Sindh Rangers have conducted targeted raids in Natha Khan Goth, Harmain Apartments-Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Sarya Gali, Nayaabad, Jamali Goth, Malir Khokrapar, Allah Dad Goth, Ranchore Line, Younas Chowrangi and Ghas Mandi areas on late Thursday night. An exchange of fire between the Rangers and terrorists took place in Ittehad Town area in which one terrorist was killed. During the action, 12 criminals have been arrested. The weapons including SMG, grenades and huge quantity of ammo were recovered.
Meanwhile, Anti Car Lifting Cell claimed to have recovered 18 snatched and stolen vehicles and arrested 25 car lifters during various operations conducted in the City.
DIG Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Sultan Khwaja addressing a press conference revealed that two car lifters were killed during the encounter while 25 others were arrested. He pointed out that over one and half dozen snatched and stolen vehicles have also been recovered from the possession of car lifters. Police also claimed to have recovered 1.1 million rupees from their possession.
