KP lady health workers long for salary

PESHAWAR - Lady Health Workers (LHWs) on Friday warned to boycott the upcoming Sehat Ka Insaf Programme if their five months’ salaries withheld by the provincial health department were not released forthwith.
Talking to The Nation, President of Lady Health Workers Association Ayesha Hassan told that they have been forced by the government to boycott the ongoing campaign under the banner of Sehat Ka Insaf. She made it clear that they would not resume their duties till release of their salaries.
She questioned what kind of justice is this as on one hand they are being forced to work while on the hand their salaries are withheld. She said that that Lady Health Workers across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have decided to give tough time to the government, as it is the matter of their employment and livelihood.
She further informed they have been serving as LHWs since 1994 on temporary basis but their services were not regularised so far. They said that around 14,000 LHWs were working against temporary posts throughout the province.
They asked the government to explain as to why they were being tormented and did not pay their services withheld for the last five months.
