ISLAMABAD – The five-day long Subh-e-Nau Earth Day National Ladies and Juniors Tennis Championship will start from April 21 here at the PTF Tennis Complex. The tournament is first of its kind celebrating Earth Day and more than 500 trees will be planted in the vicinity of Islamabad. Subh-e-Nau (SN) chairperson Shahida Kauser Farooq said that tournament aimed at promoting tennis on grassroots levels. “Five different categories including ladies singles and doubles, U-18 singles and doubles and U-14 singles will be contested during the event.” Top seeded players have confirmed their entries in the event which carried prize purse of Rs 150,000. Mahvish Chishtie will be the tournament coordinator. Interested players can contact tournament referee Shehzad Akhter Alvi and Moaz Javed for entries.–Staff Reporter
