LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is committed not to compromise on the quality of edible oil and ghee.

Addressing the meeting of Provincial Price Control Committee at Civil Secretariat through video link on Saturday, the chief minister also directed the administration to ensure continued and regular availability of oil and ghee to the people at cheaper rates.

“Proper entry of price and the ingredients should be ensured on the packing of vegetable oil and ghee,” the CM ordered. The benefit of reduction of prices of vegetable oil and ghee must reach to the masses, he further instructed the administration while advising that all the departments concerned should work with mutual coordination.

Shahbaz Sharif also underscored the need of capacity-building at the departments. He directed Provincial Ministers and secretaries to visit all the districts and check the prices and quality of vegetable oil and ghee personally.

Separately, during a meeting on law and order situation, the chief minister said that the protection of life and property of the people is primary responsibility of the state which will be fulfilled at every cost.

“After Lahore, Safe City Project is being started in Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Gujranwala. This project is of paramount importance regarding law and order,” the chief minister informed while directed the authorities to work on this project in a speedy manner.

The meeting reviewed in detail overall law and order situation, security arrangements and implementation of the steps taken under National Action Plan in the province.

It also decided to set up Punjab Safe City Authority and expressed its satisfaction over the steps for eradication of terrorism taken under NAP.

The CM further directed the Cabinet Committee to immediately prepare a draft law for establishing Punjab Safe City Authority. He urged that indiscriminate action should be continued against wall-chalking, distribution and publication of literature spreading religious hatred and violation of ban on use of loudspeaker.

Shahbaz Sharif said that in response to the public sentiment for eliminating terrorism, extremism and sectarianism, a decisive war has been launched on every front against these menaces. Effective steps are being taken in Punjab Plan which is an effective formula for purging the country of menace of terrorism and is yielding positive results, he held.

The chief minister directed that all necessary steps should be taken for further improving the security of important places all over the province and a watchful eye should be kept on mischievous elements.
