Property of defaulters of property and motor vehicle taxes will be sealed if they failed to deposit arrears by due date, warned ETO Aslam Tahir. Talking to this scribe here, he said that special teams of the Excise and Taxation Department had been formed to start proceedings against defaulters.

He said that list of defaulters was being prepared and the task for recovery of outstanding taxes would be entrusted to Excise and Taxation Officers.

Giving an overview of recoveries made by the department, Tahir said that the department had recovered Rs150.094 million during the 2014-15 up to March-2015.

He said that under the head of property tax, the department recovered Rs 76,284,840. Similarly, Rs65,538,402 was recovered in the head of Motor Vehicle Tax and Rs46,412,902 Professional Tax during the 2014-15 up to last month.

The ETO said that the department had exceeded the recovery target by as much as Rs0.2,700 million till March this year against the corresponding period of last year. He said that the department had recovered Rs1.50million against Rs1.47million last year.

drowns: A seven-year-old boy drowned in a pond in village Tahli Bhandar, almost 90-km away from here.  Jabran, son of Mumtaz, a resident of village Tahli Bhandar and student of class two, was playing with his friends near village pond. They were floating paper made (toy boats) in the pond. Suddenly toy boat of Jabran went into deep water and he went after it to bring it back but drowned.

His dead body was later recovered by villagers.
