LAHORE - Dacoits on Saturday robbed two residences, looted families and passersby at gunpoint, and made off with cash and valuables worth three million rupees from different parts of the provincial metropolis, police sources claimed.

Five dacoits forced their entry into the house of Rana Jameel in (D-Block) Model Town. The gunmen held hostage the family members and escaped after snatching cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth Rs 1.7m. The dacoits had escaped from the crime scene when the police reached the spot. The police are investigating the house robbery with no arrest made yet.

Similarly, four gunmen burst into the house Faraz Ahmed in (Nargis Block) Iqbal Town in the wee hours of Saturday. They held up the family members at gunpoint and fled after snatching cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 900,000. The police are investigating.

In another incident, two motorcyclists stopped Abdul Majeed at gunpoint in Muslim Town police precincts and escaped after collecting cash and valuables worth Rs 162,000.

Another car-rider Dr Nasir was on his way home when two gunmen intercepted him in Satu Katla police limits. He was deprived of cash and valuables worth Rs 100,000.

Meanwhile, two motorcyclists held up Muhammad Adnan at gunpoint in Green Town and snatched away cash and valuables Rs 130,000 at gunpoint. No case has been registered with the police so far.

Armed bandits riding on motorcycles also looted families and passersby in Gulberg, Shadman, Nawan Kot, Iqbal Town, Defense-B, and South Cantonment police areas and made off with cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 250,000.
