Rawalpindi - A 48-year-old man was shot dead by unknown armed dacoits at Asghar Mall Scheme in broad daylight, sources informed The Nation yesterday. The dead body of the man identified as Aziz Shah was lying on road for long time but no police officer of Rawal Division reached the crime scene, sources said.

According to sources, Aziz Shah left his house for work place in the morning when he was intercepted by a gang of armed dacoits at the Asghar Mall Scheme and tried to snatch a hand bag he was carrying and other valuables. However, the dacoits shot him dead when he resisted them and fled from the scene after snatching the hand bag. The locals informed police but no official of Police Station Banni or Rawal Division’s reached the murder scene. The dead body was later shifted to hospital for post-mortem, sources said.

Despite repeated phone calls made by this correspondent, SP Rawal Division Malik Muhammad Iqbal and DSP Waris Khan Circle Mirza Zaman did not receive their cell phones for their official version.

On the other hand, unidentified assailants gunned down a 32-year-old man at Dhoke Lalyal within limits of Police Station (PS) Airport.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) PS Airport Sattar Khan, a man namely Babar was going to his work place when all of sudden unknown attackers appeared from somewhere and opened indiscriminate firing at him, killing him on the spot. Police have started investigation after recovering eight shells from the crime scene.

He said that the reason behind the murder was not known but police would arrest the killers soon. A source disclosed to The Nation that the deceased had married with three women and also divorced one of them some two months ago. He said that the brothers of the divorced lady launched armed attack on him.
