KASUR: Hundreds of Punjab Rural Support Programme workers have blasted the decision regarding suspension of the programme, demanding withdrawal of the decision immediately.

The angry PRSP workers staged a protest at Baldia Chowk here to raise voice against the decision.

They were chanting against the Punjab Health Director General for issuance of the PRSP suspension notification.

It is to be noted that the PML-Q government had established PRSP in the province during its tenure.

The programme aimed at providing all possible health facilities to the residents of rural areas, especially the women. The programme was established in 36 districts of the Punjab in 2004. More than 453 PRSP workers including 58 doctors, 143 dispensers, 84 LHVs and 84 midwives participated in the protest. The protesters were carrying placards, with slogan for the restoration of the Punjab Rural Support Programme. They urged Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the Health Minister to take notice of the decision and reverse it for the welfare of people living in rural areas.–Staff Reporter
