ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad High Court yesterday adjourned hearing in a review petition of former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry against cancellation of fine to Imran Khan’s lawyer Babar Awan.

A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi conducted the hearing and deferred the proceedings till first week of May in this matter. It was May 31, 2015 when a district sessions judge (DSJ) of Islamabad had imposed Rs500 fine on Babar Awan for defying court orders for not submitting reply on a civil miscellaneous application in the defamation case that former chief justice Chaudhry has filed against Imran Khan.

Later, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan had challenged the imposition of fine on his lawyer and an IHC bench had annulled the DSJ court decision.

Justice (Retd) Chaudhry then filed a review petition against cancellation of fine that was fixed for hearing on Monday.

During the hearing, a junior counsel to Babar Awan appeared before the court and said that Awan is busy in the Supreme Court and could not appear before the court and then the IHC bench adjourned the hearing.
