LAHORE: A local court yesterday ordered Shahdara police to provide protection to a Christian man and his family from a group of people who are hurling life threats, and also accusing him of blasphemy.

Pervaiz Masih, a resident of Christian Park, had filed an application before a justice of peace, seeking directions for police to provide protection to him and his family from one Kashif Rafiq and his accomplices.

–According to him, for last few months, Kashif Rafiq and some others unknown people were harassing him and his family on the basis of blasphemy allegations.

Masih, in his application, added that the police did not hear their grievances. He said his family was under threat.

The court, after accepting the application, ordered the police to provide protection to the family.–Staff Reporter

Civil-military cooperation stressed

LAHORE: The role of military as an institution is vital and civil-military cooperation is the need of the day, said Zabir Saeed, a journalist and writer, about the new paradigm shifts in civil military relations.

“Both the institutions should work to safeguard democracy in Pakistan. Politicians make blunders but these should be ameliorated through the purgation process of democracy but not by dictatorship,” he added while speaking at the launching ceremony of his book “Pakistan aur Fauj”.

Former VC University of Education Dr G Mustafa Habib Ullah presided over the ceremony, while Prof Dr Mugheesud Din Sheikh was the chief guest at Lahore Press Club yesterday. Renowned Turkish Scholar Dr Durmus Bulgur said that he would translate the book in Turkish language to inform people of his country about the current scenario in Pakistan.

Competition on business idea

LAHORE: A competition on business idea was organised by Institute of Business and Management, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.

Nawaz Khan Lodhi organised the event. The seven groups of students presented their ideas about fresh business. At the event Vice-Chancellor UET Lahore Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid said that applied research is essential to establish any business as per the requirement of market.

This approach is always helpful to design comprehensive and applicable business plan. He also said that modern trends and technologies must be learnt to meet the challenges of upcoming market placement.–Staff Reporter

He emphasized the students to participate in the events about establishing events and try to follow the success stories.

Government has limited resources that are why focus should be on entrepreneurship. He appreciated the efforts of students and expressed hope that they will contribute in changing the future of country.
