PTI backs Punjab division

ISLAMABAD - Following the announcement of some lawmakers of south Punjab to form “South Punjab Province Front” demanding a separate province for the area, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Wednesday supported the demand of division of Punjab on administrative grounds.

PTI supports the creation of a separate province in South Punjab, PTI Vice-chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi said through twitter and added that PTI supported bifurcation of Punjab on administrative grounds.

Qureshi also said that Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif completely ignored the south Punjab in last five years and he had now started meetings with the lawmakers of the area only to calm them down.

Some eight lawmakers of ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had announced to quit the party the other day and formed a new group with the name of “South Punjab Province Front” to struggle for the creation of a separate province and to contest the next election under the umbrella of this group. PTI at that time said that it would take a decision on this demand and make the announcement.
