LAHORE - Former president of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Football Association Syed Zahir Ali Shah has asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to play his part in resolving Pakistan football issue. Being a sportsman, the PM should get the FIFA Football House vacated from the Ashfaq Hussain Group. He said that his group did not take part in any illegal football activities in the country and will fully support the initiatives of FIFA and AFC, said Zahir in a statement after a meeting of his group on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by Syed Zahir Shah. Zahir and Basit Kamal from KP, Ali Bihar Brohi and Eid Mohammad from Sindh, Haji Khalil Ahmed and Dr M Ali from Balochistan, Ch M Akhlaq from Punjab, Rana M Ashraf, Ch Zulfiqar Ali, Rana Zia-ur-Rehman, Ch Khalid Mehmood, Haji Rizwan Asif and Mian M Ashraf while M Zaman and Syed Mohsin Gilani from Islamabad were also present. In the meeting, Zahir Shah Group decided not to take part in any illegal football activities in the country and has decided to fully support the initiatives of FIFA and AFC. A five-member committee has been formed to meet the government officials on the current football situation in the country and brief them about the entire scenario. The meeting also passed a resolution that the PFF NC should announce the election schedule in the country as soon as possible. “Our group will continue to play an active role in the promotion of football at the district and provincial levels. The last elections were not recognized by FIFA, nor did the Ashfaq Shah Group have a mandate until 2022, and it was only after this election that FIFA formed a normalization committee.”
