FAISALABAD  - First two exporting units in Faisalabad Garment City (FGC) are likely to become functional within the next eight weeks. Muhammad Iqbal, secretary FGC company said in a media briefing cum visit to the first under construction block at FGC here Monday. "The purpose of this project is to reduce the capital outlay of the investors, provide fully compliant facilities at prevalent market rates", he stated. He said that it would also attract foreign investors who would prefer to start their business without investing on infrastructure facilities. "Site for the FGC was selected in close vicinity of the Khurarianwala industrial belt where more than 50 modern textile units were housed." FGC would increase export of valued-added textile products in addition to creating new job opportunities, particularly for young females and offer on the job training and lab testing facilities.
