KARACHI - Sindh Assembly will meet today (Tuesday) at 3:00 PM to take up the no-confidence motion against President Pervez Musharraf in line with the decision of the federal coalition partners. Major coalition parties, PPP and PML-N, had decided to initiate impeachment proceedings against Pervez Musharraf in the National Assembly and at the same time they had advised the provincial assemblies to convene sessions to pass no confidence motion against the President. The motive behind the passage of no confidence motions from provincial assemblies is to show the President that all of the units of his electoral college want him to make a respectable exit otherwise an impeachment move would be introduced in the joint session of the parliament. The Punjab Assembly on Monday also passed a similar no confidence motion against Musharraf while provincial assemblies of NWFP and Balochistan will soon adopt such resolutions. The ruling PPP has summoned the today's session of the Sindh Assembly and it seems that other coalition partner, MQM, will not support the agenda. It will be worth mentioning here that MQM has no clear stand on no-confidence motion against Pervez Musharraf either at federal or provincial level. However, the ANP has supported the move at the federal level.
