Filtration plants at UCs not installed

ISLAMABAD (Online) - Despite issuing of funds, Water Filtration Plants at 12 Union Councils of the Capitals rural areas have not been installed yet while 30 projects related to clean drinking water and cementation of streets remained incomplete due to unavailability of funds. According to sources, the Islamabad Administration failed to start the project of installation of water filtration plants announced four years ago for UCs of rural areas of the Capital and the amount had been released for this purpose. Under the project, filtration plants were to be installed at Union Council Bhara Kahu, Sohan, Charah, Kirpa, Sihala, Tarlai, Rwat, Shah Allah Dita, Koral, Phalgran and Timir. Sources further said that water filtration plants installed at UC Bhara Kahu and Rawat are out of order. It is noted that on one hand the rural areas of the Capital are facing water crisis but on other work on 6 water schemes remained stop at UC Phalgran, Kirpa, Sohan, Chara, Sihala and Bhara Kahu. Meanwhile, projects related to clean drinking water and cementation of streets have not been completed yet due to shortage of funds. According to sources, Rs 850 million have been allocated for Islamabad Development Programme while Rs. 251 million allocated for Annual Development Programme.
