OUR STAFF REPORTER FAISALABAD - Special campaign against profiteers and hoarders is underway in the district to check artificial price hike during the hold month of Ramazan. The Price Control Magistrates conducted more than 3000 raids in about 412 markets since the beginning of Ramazan and caught about 1,100 shopkeepers involved in overcharging of different items of daily-use. The violators were fined of Rs1.4 million on the spot. Giving detail of the campaign, City District Govt spokesman Khalik Manzoor informed that cases had also been got registered against more than 60 shopkeepers who were found involved in violation of price control act. He said that legal action had also been taken against the violators of Ihtram-e-Ramazan Ordinance and more than 150 hotels/canteens owners had been sent to jail for 72 hours. He said that operation against profiteers, hoarders and violators of Ihtaram-e-Ramazan Ordinance would continue vigorously for which 54 special Magistrates were actively performing their duties. IFTAAR DASTARKHWANS: On the directions of Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif, the district administration had arranged Iftaar Dastarkhwans with the cooperation of local transporters at the park of General Bus Stand. The Dastarkhwan was also attended by DCO Naseem Sadiq, RTA Secretary Mian Mohsin Rashid, Administrator General Bus Stand Rana Habibullah, various transporters and a large number of people. Lauding the generous cooperation of transporters, the DCO said that holding Iftaar and Sehar Dastarkhwans was a remarkable step taken by the Punjab CM to facilitate the poor and needy fasting people.
