It is a common observation that the behavior of police staff, with the common public is not, what can be termed as exemplary. It is either the fact that they do not have the proper training or experience to deal with the public, or they do not bother about it at all. As the routine work of police involves public dealing, it is imperative that the higher authorities should arrange for proper trainings and should also convey clear instructions on how to communicate with the general public. Already the communication gap between the police and the citizens has resulted in the deteriorating law and order situation. HASSAN BASHIR, Islamabad, August 11.
