OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE The Sports Board Punjab (SBP) is organising sports events from Friday (today) as a part of Independence Day celebrations. The boys will contest in four games, swimming, shooting ball, football and hockey whereas girls will be competing in volleyball event only, said a spokesman of SBP. DG Sports Jamshed Daudi named chairman of the organising committee while Director Sports Jalil Ahmed Chohan is the organising secretary. Sports events at PU Meanwhile, Punjab University Sports Department will organise sports events on August 13 (tomorrow) as a part of Independence Day celebrations. Table tennis and badminton matches will be held at Punjab University gymnasium hall while swimming competitions will be organised at New Campus pool. Girls will be participating in a volleyball match to be held at old campus hall. President Punjab University Teaching Department Sports Association Prof Dr M Ahsan Malik will be the chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony of all the all events at new the campus pool. Independence Day Wushu Independence Day Wushu Championship will be held here on August 13 (tomorrow). Punjab Wushu Association (PWA) in collaboration with Punjab Olympic Association to mark the celebrations of Independence Day. PBA holds badminton event Independence Day badminton tournament started here at the New Khan Hall. PBA is organising the four-day event. 20 teams contesting in the event.
