Youth loses life and money to dacoits

LAHORE Dacoits on Thursday gunned down a youth on offering resistance and made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 3 million rupees in several strikes. In the first incident, armed robbers, riding a motorcycle, intercepted the 22-year-old shopkeeper outside his store in Defense-B. They demanded cash and valuables. As the shop owner offered resistance, the bandits opened fire at him and fled away after snatching Rs 1 million from him. The man, later identified as Ahmad Bilal, a resident of Y-Block of Defense, sustained serious bullet injuries and was rushed to the Lahore General Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The police have registered a dacoity-cum-murder case against unidentified robbers and are investigating with no arrest made so far. In other armed robberies, five dacoits barged into the house of Muhammad Nauman in Shadman police vicinity and held up the family members hostage at gunpoint. The robbers also thrashed the female family members, locked all of them inside a room and escaped after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 1.5 million. The robbers also snatched away a (1300-CC) car from the victims residence. Muhammad Usman was coming back after withdrawing Rs 500,000 from a local bank when two armed motorcyclists intercepted him in Baghbanpura police vicinity. The robbers held him at gunpoint and took away the cash. The police are investigating. Rahman was on a stroll near to his residence in Gulshan-e-Ravi police area when two robbers riding on a motorcycle intercepted him. The victim told the police that the robbers held him up at gunpoint and fled away after snatching cash, mobile phone and other valuables worth Rs 67,000. The police have registered the case and are investigating. Faizan was on his way home when two robbers held him up at gunpoint near PTCL exchange in Garden Town police area. He was deprived of cash and valuables worth Rs 70,000. The police have registered the case. Imran was on his way to a nearby grocery store in Liaqatabad police area when two motorcyclists intercepted him. The robbers snatched away cash and valuables worth Rs 95,000 at gunpoint. Muhammad Khuram told the Lytton Road police that two robbers held him up at gunpoint near Janazgah and snatched away cash, mobile phone and other valuables worth Rs 80,000. Robbers riding on motorcycles held up Arslan at gunpoint in Shalimar police area and deprived him of cash and valuables worth Rs 45,000. Muhammad Faisal was coming back from his office when two gunmen intercepted him in Ravi Road police area. He was deprived of cash and valuables worth Rs 35,000. Muhammad Nasir riding motorcycle was on his way home when two gunmen intercepted him near Gool Bagh in Karim Park, in the vicinity of Shafiqabad police. The robbers snatched away his motorcycle, mobile phone and purse, containing thousands of rupees.
