‘Govt trying to provide quality healthcare’

LAHORE – A spokesman of the Punjab Health Department claimed on Saturday that the provincial government was striving to provide quality health care services, while the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) had been tasked to harmonise the health sector through effective collaboration and synergies with the stakeholders.
He said the regulatory functions of the PHC did not overlap with any of the functions of other health regulatory bodies like the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), since its area of jurisdiction was completely different and distinct.
The spokesman said the PHC was an independent health care regulatory body and it had been created under the Punjab Healthcare Commission Act 2010 for improving the quality of health care at hospitals, diagnostic clinics, Tibb clinics, acupuncture clinics, physiotherapy clinics or any other premise or conveyance wholly or partly used for providing health care service both in the public and private sectors.
